Central
Food Technological Research Institute, the pioneering organization in
Research
and Development in the area of Food science and Technology and Human
Resource
Development. CFTRI is ISO 9001:2000 & ISO 14001:2004 Organization
and NABL
Accredited Laboratory. As a part of
human resource development, an International School of Milling
Technology was
established as a joint Indo-Swiss venture and Roller Flour Miller
Federation of
India project during 1981 to serve the needs of flour milling industry
in India
and other developing countries with regard to training in flour milling
technology.
So far 28
regular courses in Flour Milling
Technology have been completed and 29th is in progress. In these
courses, 545 participants including 100 from some of the other
developing
countries such as Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guyana,
Jordan,
Kazakhstan, Kenya, Liberia, Mongolia, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan,
The
Philippines, Srilanka, Syria, Suriname, Uganda, United Arab Emirates,
Vietnam,
West Indies, Yemen, Zambia, have been trained. These trained personnel
are
serving in different roller flour mills in India and in various other
countries. Since then, there have been qualitative changes in the
working of
these mills as per the feedback received from the milling industry.

Infrastructure
Facilities

|
International School of Milling
Technology is first of its kind in South East Asia. ISMT enjoys the
facilities and expertise of CFTRI. ISMT enjoys the fully dedicated
computer controlled pilot roller flour mill, where students are taught
milling systems as per the international and Indian sub continental
standards.
ISMT is also equipped with analytical laboratory for testing
physico-chemical attributes of raw material and finished products. In
addition test baking and pilot scale baking facilities are available
for assessing quality of milled products.
Boarding & lodging is provided at International Hostel in campus.
CFTRI is having renowned library in the field of Food Science &
Technology. Library is a National Information Center for
Food Science & Technology.

Course
also includes four weeks Inplant training at ISMT Mill (20 tones/day
capacity)
& Automatic Mill practical classes; there in each participant will
be Head
Miller. Diffrent Guest lectures are also arranged on various other
topics. The
mill has been modernized with latest machineries in cleaning and
grinding
sections, flour fortification and automatic flour handling and packing.
The
course has been gradually updated so that it is effective and
responsive to the
needs of the milling industry especially in developing countries of
tropical
areas. The course is aimed at turning out best technical personnel cum
Managers
equipped with the necessary capability to take up the challenges of
managing
modern roller flour mills.

Teaching
faculty consists of highly qualified & experienced members drawn
from CFTRI
for covering different subjects for the course.

30th
regular course in Flour Milling Technology is scheduled to start on 16th
August 2010. Applications are invited from the eligible candidates for
the
selection of 20 participants. The requirements for admission are as
follows:
QUALIFICATION
& EXPERIENCE: Degree/Diploma in
Engineering/tech.
OR
Any Degree from a recognized University
(Art,
Commerce, Science or
equivalent)
OR
City & Guilds Certificate in Flour Milling.
Those
who are appearing for final year exams may also apply and submit the
marks card
on or before 30th June 2010.
Selection is based on the merit list of marks/grade of the qualifying
degree
examination, experience in flour milling and sponsorship and also if
required
an aptitude test/interview conducted by CFTRI.
The course fee is Rs.
75000/- for Indian participant and U.S. $ 8,000/-for participant from
abroad.
The participant will have to bear the boarding & lodging expenses
provided
at the International Hostel situated
inside the campus.
Request
for application form and the prospectus which should be accompanied by
crossed
Indian Postal Order or Demand Draft for Rs. 150/- for Indian
participant and
U.S. $ 25 in
the form of international money order or bank draft for a foreign
participant, drawn in favour of “The
Director, CFTRI, Mysore”. The application complete
in all respects should reach “The
Head, FMBCT, CFTRI,
Mysore-570 020, India, on or before 30th
June 2010. Candidates selected for the course will be intimated
about their
selection.
