Food, its preservation and processing was the focal theme of the
visionaries who made pioneering efforts in establishing what is now known worldwide as the
International Food Technology Training Centre (IFTTC) in the prestigious R & D
institute, the Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysore, India.
Metamorphosis of diploma course in Fruit and Vegetable Technology of the early forties to
a two year Post Graduate Associateship in the fifties and finally to a comprehensive M.Sc
(Food Tech.) course in the sixties is the saga of growth of post harvest technology in
South and South East Asian Countries. The students of these courses became the pillars and
the torchbearers of food processing industry around the world. High standard of training
at IFTTC is reflected in the fact that many of its alumni are occupying the highest
positions in R & D Institutions and Food Industries both in developed and developing
countries. |
