Dear Alumni,

Let me welcome you all to the web page of the CFTRI Alumni Association which was a long cherished dream of the Alumni I believe. Is it not a great pleasure to see how one's Alma Mater is doing and it will be a good channel for us to propagate the information between us to keep abreast of all the news in the family of Alumni.

Over a period of time the Alumni has grown leaps and bounds with membership of persons who graduated either from M.Sc.(Food Science) or M.Sc.(Food Technology) to higher levels in his professional life. The major problem that the Alumni felt was to keep track of people who moved from one place to another or from one academia to another or from one institution to other or from one industry to other. This actually hindered our communications very much. Therefore, it was thought during the Golden jubilee meeting of CFTRI when the alumni met that we should go out with a web page which is very pro-active, which can be updated constantly and which can really open up channels for active communication between the members. It is this strategy that has now culminated into the first attempt of a web page and I am sure you would go through it with all the enthusiasm and curiosity to know what is happening with the Alumni Association and with CFTRI and its activity.

In this process, I would like you to take a very active role in essentially communicating to the Alumni Secretariat any major news item that you would like to be hosted on to the web page such that the web page becomes global and the web page also becomes a source of information even as a matter of fact for the non-Alumni. This is where the activity should expand and in fact we should ensure that people visit the web page regularly driven by its content.

We also realise that the number of Alumni that have registered can be more and the reason was many people do not know where to contact, many people feel that it is not possible to be in constant touch with letters etc. and therefore, this web page now gives an opportunity for you to take a close look and ensure that additional members are listed due to each others' pro- activeness and it is not only the responsibility of the Executive Committee but it is the responsibility of each one of the Alumini to make one additional member and I say at least once in a year and additional member per each alumni is a nice commitment from all of us if not earlier.

It is therefore very essential that you also look forward for contributing your might financially also apart from intellectually to ensure that the financial health of Alumni keeps growing.

I am sure you would go through this web page, and you are most welcome to give your valuable suggestions and facilitate more people visiting the web page and I believe this is essential to take the CFTRI Alumni Association to a global level with the back drop of CFTRI's position in the area of Food Science and Technology. It is your association and you should nurture it.
