The Central Food Technological Research Institute has completed 54th year and it continues to serve the nation in the area of Food Science & Food Technology. The path that the institute has taken right from the inception is one of alleviation of hunger, better nutritious food to the vulnerable, technology generator and provider for the small, tiny, cottage and medium scale industries and to enhance knowledge for understanding better Food Science & Technology and high tech to large and even multinationals, ultimately to mitigate losses of food and value addition of the agricultural products and byproducts of the food processing industry.

As one of the constituent of the 38 national laboratories of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, CFTRI is nurtured by CSIR in its 61 years of journey with the above objectives in view and today CFTRI has built a network with these laboratories for further utilizing the infrastructure. The major contributions does not, in any way, undermine the minor, tiny and even the micro contribution that CFTRI has done to a cross section of food industries and entrepreneurs world-wide. The importance of reaching its knowledgebase across the global arena is equally vital today and through this web page one can have an access to the institute to know more about it from the point of view of emerging food science, food technology and food engineering with adequate amount of human resource which it trains every year from different parts of the country and world. As one of the biggest Food Science & Technology Institutions in the World, CFTRI is striving hard to bench-mark itself to international standards and recently has been accredited the ISO-9001:2000, ISO-14001 and NABL certification. The high level of publications in science, the large number of patents it takes every year, the large number of consultations, technology transfers and sponsored and grant-in-aid projects it delivers, the number of training courses and also the degrees that are awarded every year as a result of working in CFTRI are all hall marks of information towards making altogether a different impact globally from the campus of CFTRI.

The founders of this institute had a great vision in establishing this institute wherein the purpose of the institute, the dynamic infrastructure capacity building of the institute, the network of departments have all a history of 54 years and is growing with that rich background and experience.

As we are going to the next decade of a different world of information, CFTRI plays a very major role in opening its doors to the outside world to see how people across the globe can synergise with the institute for their advantage and for the advantage of the institute in cross-ventilating the knowledge power which is tomorrow's wealth.
