Admission notice for 12 months programme in Flour Milling Technology at International School of Milling Technology (ISMT) scheduled for the year 2016 − 2017.
CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute (CSIR-CFTRI) is the pioneering organization in Research and Development in the area of Food science and Technology and Human Resource Development. CFTRI is ISO 9001:2008; ISO 14001:2004 and ISO 17025:2005 Accredited Laboratory. As a part of human resource development, an International School of Milling Technology was established as a joint Indo-Swiss venture and Roller Flour Millers Federation of India project during 1981 to serve the needs of flour milling industry in India and other developing countries with regard to training in flour milling technology.
So far 34 regular courses in Flour Milling Technology have been completed and 35th is in progress. In all, till date 673 participants including 104 from some of the other developing countries such as Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guyana, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Liberia, Mongolia, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, The Philippines, Srilanka, Syria, Suriname, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, West Indies, Yemen, Zambia, have been trained. International School of Milling Technology is first of its kind in South East Asia. ISMT enjoys the facilities and expertise of CFTRI with fully dedicated computer controlled pilot roller flour mill, where students are taught milling systems as per the international and Indian subcontinental standards.
ISMT is also equipped with analytical laboratory for testing physico-chemical attributes of raw material and finished products. In addition, test baking and pilot scale baking facilities are available for assessing quality of milled products.
CSIR-CFTRI is having renowned library in the field of Food Science & Technology which is a National Information Center for Food Science & Technology.
The theory as well as practical subjects taught at ISMT are divided into four groups namely :
(1) Milling and Cognate subjects: Diagram Technique, Mill Operation, Mill Machine, Mill practice- I & II, Automatic Milling practice,Cereal Science and Baking Technology
(2) Basic subjects: Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics
(3) Applied Subjects: Mechanics, Electrical Technology-Theory and practical, Energy Management, Technical Drawing, Infestation Control, Packaging Technology, Feed Milling, Nutrition, Computer Science.
(4) Study Tour: Study tour to various commercial Rollers Flour mills & allied industries.
