About UNU at CFTRI, Mysore, India.
The United Nations University (UNU), with headquarters at Tokyo, is funded by many member
nations of the UNO. The University started functioning from 1974 and is engaged in three
major programmes: World Hunger Programme, Human and Social Development, and Natural
Resources. It has a number of Associated Institutions worldwide and CFTRI is one amongst
them. The programmes of UNU are specially designed to meet the food technology needs of
developing countries through training of personnel at junior and management levels with
focus on Food and Nutrition Security. The personnel so far trained exceeds about 120 from
nearly 23 different countries in the area of Traditional Foods, Fermented Foods,
Nutritious Foods, Health Foods, Oilseed Utilization, Appropriate Technologies for Rural
areas and Value Addition to Agri Products including Fruits, Vegetables, Grains, and
Pulses.
