From the Desk of the Institutional
Coordinator, UNU Programme at CFT'RI
Welcome to
the WEB page on UNU programme at CFTRI which takes you into the world
of Food Science and Technology and the potential opportunities that
exists in this campus for people who would like to enhance their
academia in the areas of Food Science and Technology and Nutrition as
relevant to developing countries. The WEB page takes you to a journey
of what you could really gain through this UNU Fellowship at CFTRI in
terms of its relevance to your own country and your own institution.
It is not fair on my part to dwell about the details of the Fellowship
since these are all well documented in the WEB page itself But what is
more important is that this opportunity must be utilized by every
developing country to enhance their potential in the area of Food
Science and Technology through more than 50 years of experience of
CFTRI in this field and it is this loaded experience of the institution
which the UNU at Tokyo has recognized as a centre of training for other
countries.
The Fellowship will not only bring in linkages with the Scientists,
Technologists, Engineers but will also bring in social tie-ups through,
for example, traditional foods, indigenous foods, the low cost
nutritious foods and the nutritional composition of each of the unique
foods that each country has. These can be linked up together into one
area of knowledge-base generation, innovation and learning which are
the crucial factors in this Fellowship.
If we go back to the history of this UNU fellowship at CFTRI, more than
125 Fellowships have fructified in this Institute and each one of the
Fellows are doing extremely well in their country, in their institution
after being trained here, and this fact reflects in itself the impact.
When I see the large alumni of CFTRI-UNU Fellowships that have spread
across the world, the message is clear.
This programme is one of the unique ones which not only networks Food
Science and Technology globally but also networks the culture, the
tradition, the high science, the sustainability factor and also the
potential for utilizing each other's experience for a better, safe and
more importantly the sustainable food for tomorrow for the entire
world. in capitalizing these charters, which of course are well built
in into the long term charter of the United Nations itself, the CFTRI
would like to ensure that this bridge of intercountry interactions is
established through this fellowship and it is for you to go through the
WEB page in detail and also interact with us to help you with farther
information, if you need.
I am sure that this WEB page would synergise, capitalize and foster the
deserving candidates, who look forward for a better and higher training
in the field of Food Science and Technology and also who look forward
for close association with the CFTRI at Mysore, India. In wishing you
good luck into the journey through WEB page, we welcome you to this WEB
page.
If you are an earlier UNU Alumni and stationed elsewhere, we will be
able to network closely if you can update your address and ensure that
we keep you posted of the development of the Alma mater in the most
efficient way we can.
