General Information about Fellowship

Letter of Invitation

If CFTRI decides to invite you to come to Mysore as a Fellow, you will be sent a formal invitation from our Programme co-ordinator setting out the terms and conditions of the fellowship which is being offered through the United Nations University Head Quarters from Tokyo.

Visa

All fellows, regardless of their nationality, will obtain an entry visa into India and will inform the Indian authorities of the approximate time (morning or afternoon) and date of arrival in India and they will assure your entry into India, in accordance with the agreement signed with the host country and the UN Convention on Immunities and Privileges.

Travel


UNU will generally help to arrange a Fellow's travel to and from and will pay the cost of the Fellow's air ticket and other reasonable transport costs incurred by the Fellow. The travel arrangements are often made with the help of the local UNDP office in the country from which the Fellow is traveling and UN head quarter at Tokyo co-ordinates the activity.

Arrival


Before travel, one can contact Director's Secretariat at CFTRI for giving exact travel route and the times of your flight(s). If you are flying direct to Bangalore, an authorised person will meet you at the airport and the arrangements will be made to reach CFTRI, Mysore from Bangalore which takes about 3 hours by Road.

Lodging

 
Fellows will be provided accommodation in the UNU Single room kitchenette accommodation located in the CFTRI campus, Mysore. Each fellow will have his/her own room with kitchenette. Fellows will have to pay a rental fee for the accommodation which includes, the costs for water and electricity.  Fellows can eat in the cafeteria on payment or they can cook their food.

Medical Insurance

Fellows are medically insured during their Fellowship from UNU Tokyo. Prospective Fellows must undergo a medical examination before they can be accepted as Fellows in India and before they start their work. Arrangement for the medical examination will be made by UN office at CFTRI upon the arrival of candidate which is a prequisite before starting the programme of work.
